Here at Outblush, we're utterly in love with Alton Brown. If you're not familiar with his practical-yet-wacky Food Network series Good Eats, we have to recommend a few weeks of couch potatoing, emphasis on the potato, as well as this book. Brown's focus is on making ordinary food superbly, and his approach is part science, part Sesame Street. This second version of I'm Just Here For the Food includes over ninety useful recipes, as well as info on why they work the way they do. It'll also teach you quite a bit about cooking in general. And if you're the original Miss I-Don't-Read-Cookbooks? Read it anyway. Yes, we're sure.
