We've got just a touch of an objection to Endangered Recipes: Too Good to Be Forgotten ($17). Our problem is mostly that it includes French Onion Dip. In our house, French Onion Dip is not an endangered recipe. It's a menace to our carefully-plotted diet plans, unleashing itself upon us every Football Sunday, when we inevitably eat ourselves into a food coma with it. But we'll give author Lari Robling the pass, thanks to the rest of her carefully curated comfort food classics, from Rice Pudding to Welsh Rarebit. Cheese on toast - with extra saltiness? Why did this ever go out of style?
