We gobbled up the contents of Bread & Butter: A Novel ($20) by Michelle Wildgen so quickly it's embarrassing, and now that we've had time to digest the plot, we want to go back for seconds. Peppered with mouth-watering food descriptions, commercial kitchen secrets, and the fast pacing of a busy bistro, the book follows three brothers, two of whom own the town's most well-to-do restaurant. When their youngest, devil-may-care brother decides to open up his own establishment, a healthy heap of family drama unfolds (with sides of romance and humor). If you've put in some time with the restaurant industry, you'll probably get more out of this one than those who haven't.
