Probably one of our favorite books of all time, A Tree Grows In Brooklyn ($11) seems to have practically disappeared from modern literature. Written by Betty Smith, this book chronicles the life of Francie Nolan as she experiences life growing up in turn-of-the-century Brooklyn. We laughed at ash covered tits (have we caught your attention?), quirky family members, and coming of age moments. If you didn't get a chance to read this as a kid, it's never too late to relish Betty Smith's amazing novel.

GREAT book! I've read it over and over and every time it resonates differently as I get older/more mature.
READ IT!
One Ring to Rule Them All
Also, Betty Smith's other books are just as delightful. I love Maggie-Now and Joy in the Morning!
