Usually when we're headed to the beach or outdoor cafe, we bring along a little light fiction reading. But we took our chances with A Girl Named Zippy: Growing Up Small in Mooreland, Indiana ($11). First, it's a memoir. And second, where the hell is Mooreland, Indiana? We're SO glad we picked up this book. It's heartwarming with lovely, slow writing that so often gave us goosebumps, found us laughing out loud, and made us want to be BFFs with Zippy, aka Haven Kimmel, the author. We loved it so much, we read it in record time and are eagerly pouring through her second memoir, She Got Up Off the Couch, which picks up where Kimmel left off in Zippy.
