A Discovery of Witches

After reading the Harry Potter series for the twentieth time and tackling the Twilight Trilogy over and over, you're still aching for more supernatural? There are thousands of books out there infiltrating the mystical genre, but not all of them will give you the fix you need. Luckily, we've been hearing a ton of buzz about A Discovery of Witches ($15) by Deborah Harkness. The novel is geared toward adult readers and takes place in a world where witches and vampires roam. An all-encompassing love story, with history and myth thrown in, you'll want to read this in one sitting and then promptly start it again.

I'm just blown away by the attention this book is's one of a million barely hidden Twilight recreations... seriously. There's better out there. They just don't have the press push behind them...

I'm reading it right now - about 150 pages to go. I will admit I only picked it up because of the good reviews and hype. It's okay. I read for pleasure and am not typically a book hater...I can usually find something I like about every book I read. Actually the only thing off-putting about this book is all the "history" which I could really care less about.

THE best adult magickal book is "The Magicians: A Novel" by Lev Grossman. Gets a little funky at the end but well worth the read time! Some say Harry Potter for adults.
