I'd Rather Be: Carmen Sandiego

While a Personal Shopper can give you what you need for real life, I'd Rather Be sets you up for fantasy lives you didn't even know you had. Because sometimes a new shampoo isn't enough for a whole new you. (Want us to outfit your alter ego or your alternate reality? Just say the word!)

Being bad is more fun, and no one knows that better than Carmen Sandiego. She makes thieving a glamorous pursuit. It's gotta be the coat, right?

  • Pop the collar and this classic red trench ($50) will help hide your face. But red stands out in a crowd, so make sure your fancy footwork can shake The Chief and her gumshoes.
  • Add a yellow scarf ($38) to keep the chill out while you hop trains and chase down getaway cars.
  • This crushable fedora ($40) is water-resistant and packable, so it'll look none the worse for the wear if it gets trampled under the feet of your fellow bumbling V.I.L.E operatives. Top Grunge isn't exactly known for keeping things in pristine condition.
  • Only careless thieves leave behind prints. A pair of gloves ($69) means the scene will be spotless.
  • In terms of difficulty, mastering the art of swiping the Taj Mahal comes in a distant second to mastering the art of being on the lam in a pair of four-inch Givenchy leather boots with gold-tipped heels ($1,235).
  • Swapping out a priceless Da Vinci for a cheap imitation ($25) may buy you enough time to make it out the loading dock door.
  • If you don't want to get caught, you'll want to know where you are and where you're headed. Carry a GPS ($250) to stay one step ahead.
  • Of course, GPS navigators are traceable, so make sure your backup plan includes a map of Europe ($6).
  • The deed is done and it's time to disappear. Take to the skies on your badass helicopter ($inquire).
  • Every crook worth her stones has a rockin' theme song. Play "Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego?" ($15) on repeat. Unless, of course, you can find a way to steal the Rockapella fellas and have them harmonize at your every turn.

If you haven't mastered the subtle art of the heist, Carmen's collection will cost you $1,728, and that doesn't include the get-away 'copter.
