How many items in your home can you say are in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art, Smithsonian, Corning Museum and Philadelphia Museum of Art? We're guessing not many.
Selected by the Illinois Institute of Technology as one of the 100 best-designed items of modern times, the Chemex Handblown Coffeemaker ($66) is simple and produces some of the best coffee on the planet.
Constructed of wood, laboratory-grade borosilicate glass and a thin leather band. No processed taste, no sediment, no plastic - just pure coffee. Hand-blown in Croatia, it's so durable, it'll last for hundreds of years - as long as you don't drop it.

I have a vintage one of these, and I must say it makes fantastic coffee! Worth the money for the design alone, but great-tasting coffee is a great benefit.
