We're taking one step in the right direction, as far as splatter safety is concerned, with the Umbra Black PortoChef Recipe Album ($25). Like Julie from Julie and Julia, we weren't born gourmet chefs, so our recipes need protection from our klutziness. This recipe album is handy, keeping our page of interest upright in a two-ring binder, safely tucked behind a laminated sleeve. Who really cares about Julia Child, anyways? Now we can make our own recipe book from the unwieldy recipe clippings and print-outs strewn all over the house.
