On its own, The Food Loop ($10 for 4) looks way too close to some sort of baby alien life force for us to be comfortable with it, but we have to admit, it's a damn handy baby alien. Whether we're making a roast or just trying to keep our lunchtime wrap from falling apart in our hands, this foodsafe little silicone loop holds our sh*t together. Besides, have you ever tried to find kitchen twine in the grocery store? Good luck, sister.

I bought some of these in a "Turkey Trussing Kit" at Williams Sonoma a couple of years ago...they don't work so well for holding legs of whole birds together, as they don't hold up to much tension and just come apart, especially when heated, but other uses listed here, such as holding a wrap together, are ingenious!
