Oven Shields
Ridiculous confession time: we're afraid of the oven. Don't get us wrong, we still use it, but it seems like every other time we do, we manage to burn ourselves. We know it's operator error, but it still makes us reach in to check our brownies with trepidation. Which is why we sighed with relief and promptly ordered a set of Silicone Oven Shields ($10) as soon as we found them. We're probably still going to use our oven mitts too, though.

You SHOULD use your oven mitts! The trouble with those silicone oven shields is that THEY get really hot in the oven, and even though they are not metal, you will still burn your fingers if you touch them (this happened to my husband the other day). The burn will be way less severe than if you had touched a metal oven rack, though.
