Normally, we're fans of multitaskers in the kitchen. But hot chocolate is a fall & winter treat so revered, it really deserves the best equipment we can use to make it with: the Bodum Chocolatiere Glass Hot Chocolate Maker & Frother. ($20) Add some chopped fine chocolate or hot chocolate to the bottom of the pot, then fill the jug with hot milk (2%, if you please, nonfat just makes for watery hot chocolate. Watered down chocolate is not tasty stuff.) and any flavoring syrups or liquors, then set the lid in place and pump the plunger up & down until the mixture is perfectly fluffy and cocoa-y. Our preferred beat-the-PMS concoction? Ghiradelli Double Chocolate Mix with a pinch of cinnamon, a smidge of real vanilla extract, and a generous splash of Vermeer Chocolate Liqueur. Warms you through and through on chilly evenings!
