The merchant's description of the Jacopo Console ($890) says that its metallic surface gives guests an excuse "to pause and peek inside." Honestly, we don't want people snooping through our drawers, but finding the dark purple velvet lining inside this ornate Indian style piece would be more impressive than alarming. Incised details make the entire thing shimmer all the way down to the fluted handles and claw foot supports. Très chic.
