Here is yet another deliciously delectable guest post by none other than Matt Jacobson from FocusontheDonut.com. His blog takes us on a wild ride through Matt's life - don't know about you, but we're soaking up every minute of it.
The Sundance Film Festival opens this weekend, and as serious filmmakers, "cleat chasers", actresses, and hipsters descend on Park City, the town is always in for a fashion upheaval. What you wear is as important as what you see at Sundance, and with the Fred Segal Lounge's doyenne, Jackie Brander, holding sway over the fest's best swag, the fashion bar has been significantly raised in the past couple of years.
So what are we in for this season? I predict that the health and hunk conscious will make the move to snowshoe hiking adjacent to the nearby ski runs; snowshoes are the new snowboards. This doesn't mean ditching mountain chic for granola baggies: in fact, quite the opposite. I'm thinking that the newly re-minted limited edition Sorels Women's1964 Pac Premium Boots ($370) will easily make the transition from top of the mountain to the Eccles theater (Sundance's premiere screening venue) with great élan, and similarly, outerwear's gonna get good. Puffer coats are played, unless they're this Norma Kamali Narrow Sleeping Bag Short Coat ($375), worn over a neon turtleneck - Michael Kors makes a killer version. For wearable art, I'm partial to Lucien Pellat Finet's cashmere adorned with the signature skulls and cannabis leaves. For bottoms, think utilitarian - Patagonia's Capilene 4 tights make warmth and sense.
While seeing films and mountain time are often secondary at Sundance, looking great never takes a back seat. I'm sure TMZ and the Paps will have a lot of eye candy to share with us all over the next couple of weeks. You heard it here first.
