What was your dream hairstyle in middle school?

Since we're sharing, I'll state that I, Mitchy, at the not-so-tender age of thirteen, wanted nothing more than to have grungy, platinum blonde rocker hair à la Kat Bjelland, but my mom didn't think I had the right skin tone for it. Spoiler alert: she was right.

One entry per person, please. Deadline to enter is Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at 12:00pm PST. Winners will be chosen at random and posted on Outblush the same day.

beachy waves or long and straight - really anything but the horrifying frizz nature gave me!

Posted on 09.04.13 at 12:12 PM

I wanted hair like Kelly Kapowski from Saved By the Bell

Posted on 09.04.13 at 12:16 PM

I wanted curly hair. Like, what I really wanted was a perm, which was achievable, but I didn't know it.

Posted on 09.04.13 at 12:27 PM

I wanted my hair to be as big/high as possible. I was rocking the 80s perm - with tall bangs. I think I used a can of hairspray a day.

Posted on 09.04.13 at 1:23 PM

Long straight hair parted down the middle.

Posted on 09.04.13 at 1:30 PM

I wanted big curls, but all I ever got was a kinky spiral perm. When it grew out it was awful. Half stick straight, half kinky curls.

Posted on 09.04.13 at 1:37 PM

In middle school I wanted beautiful long layered thick hair like Topanga from Boy Meets World (Danielle Fishel). Actually, I still want that hair! :-)

Posted on 09.04.13 at 1:43 PM

There was a woman in a lip gloss ad in teen magazines and I tried unsuccessfully to make my hair look just like hers for a year. (She sort of looked like Marty's girlfriend in Back to the Future)

Posted on 09.04.13 at 1:45 PM

I wanted sleek straight hair, the complete opposite of the poofy curly hair I had.

Posted on 09.04.13 at 1:55 PM

embarrassingly, whatever gwen stefani was doing that day!

I wanted sun-kissed, wavy beach hair. Unfortunately, I used sun-in and got orange/gold hair instead.

Posted on 09.04.13 at 2:03 PM

Dark long hair with loose curls! Instead I had a straight shoulder length bob.

I was born with straight, really flat hair that has never held a curl. So I too got a perma and did this whole scrunchy skanky look for a while. It was awful but it was the 90s whatever.... What ever went well with my tight crazy pants and really tiny tank tops

Posted on 09.04.13 at 2:12 PM

In middle school, my hair was definitely on the oily side. So, clean was pretty much my dream look! :-)

Posted on 09.04.13 at 3:03 PM

Parted down the middle with a little butterfly clip pulling back a small chunk on each side, or.....two French braids pulled back into a messy bun on each side....we thought we were just so cute!!

Posted on 09.04.13 at 3:22 PM

Parted down the middle with 'feathers' - classic 'do of the 70's.

Posted on 09.04.13 at 3:26 PM

Straight hair - french braided. Anything but curls!

Curly up-do or french twist. Seemed so sophisticated!

Posted on 09.04.13 at 4:04 PM

In middle school I wanted super long hair that I could actually sit down on! It didn't dawn on me how tangled up it would get.

Posted on 09.04.13 at 4:16 PM

In middle school I wanted crazy big red hair even though I have light brown skin. I totally had the idea before Rihanna!

And now I have that hair color lol!!!

Posted on 09.04.13 at 4:30 PM

I wanted long straight hair with bangs that didn't split apart in the middle with an awful wave to each side. Neither have ever been achieved.

Posted on 09.04.13 at 4:40 PM

I wanted to somehow dye my dark brown hair with red Kool Aid.

Posted on 09.04.13 at 5:05 PM

Sadly, a spiral perm with super teased bangs. All held with a bottle of Aqua Net.

Hairstyle? All I wanted was blue punk rock hair.

Posted on 09.04.13 at 6:06 PM

BIG bangs, with half curled back and the other down AND teased!! Oh this just made me laughter out loud!!!

Posted on 09.04.13 at 6:08 PM

In middle school, a friend taught me how to make my bangs stand up. I should hold it against her, but alas, we all thought it was the best.

Posted on 09.04.13 at 6:23 PM

Permed bangs and totally straight, long hair. Hot!

Posted on 09.04.13 at 6:30 PM

I wanted blond highlights to accent my black hair. I tried lightening my hair, and that resulted in a dry mess. Lesson learned to embrace my dark hair.

Posted on 09.04.13 at 7:23 PM

oh god - anything that didn't end up with me being made fun of.

Posted on 09.04.13 at 7:54 PM

Middle school was the early 2000s for me. The coolest thing was a high bun completely gelled and sleeked back. ABSOLUTELY no bumps! But then 500 bobby pins creating a messy bun. Braids in the bun were welcome as was hair glitter. Dear god.

Posted on 09.04.13 at 8:58 PM

Long, wavy hair! Maybe with some fun highlights...

I wanted to have corn-rows. I was an odd child. Thank God I grew out of that!

Posted on 09.04.13 at 11:19 PM

I wanted my mom to let me relax my hair - I dreamed of gorgeous long, pin straight hair. Then, one day she did it...took me 15 years to return to natural hair. Silly me.

Posted on 09.05.13 at 5:34 AM

I wanted hair like the surfer girls...blond and straight. I was a brunette with wavy hair and no hair straightners back then.

Posted on 09.05.13 at 8:18 AM

I have red undertones and tried dying my hair blond. Turns out red + blond = ORANGE (and how!)

Cherie Montorio

Posted on 09.05.13 at 8:24 AM

I wanted curly hair so bad and my hair was pin straight.

Posted on 09.05.13 at 1:09 PM

I have straight hair and wanted to grow them out really long, which I did, so I could get straight modern bangs and little mini side fringe bangs. Kind of like something Vidal Sassoon would cut, but long. But then I found out my face was too flat and my mom called it a toilet bowl cut. (The shape!)

Posted on 09.05.13 at 3:19 PM

Getting a time machine, going to 2000, and bringing back a flat iron, because they didn't exist when I was in middle school and it pretty much would have give me my dream hair... FLAT and SLEEK!

Posted on 09.05.13 at 6:54 PM

I wanted a short bob with curly hair...the exact opposite of what I had in real life.

Amy Smith

Posted on 09.08.13 at 8:08 AM

I wanted Farrah Fawcett hair!

Susan Christy

Posted on 09.08.13 at 10:20 AM

Farrah Fawcett's feathery, winged 1970's hair!

Christina Von Holt

Posted on 09.08.13 at 1:55 PM

I wanted long and wavy frizz free hair.

Posted on 09.08.13 at 5:33 PM

All I wanted was straight hair as mine is naturally curly and was totally frizzy.

Posted on 09.08.13 at 6:19 PM

I wanted 'The Rachel' from Friends!

Posted on 09.08.13 at 6:49 PM

I had wanted long straight hair like Rapunzel. Needless to say, I'm real and she's a storybook character so that never happened.
