I bleached my hair in order to dye it pink and blue!

When I was a kid, I put on a headband, pushed it forward a bit, stuck scissors into the loop of hair at my forehead, and snipped. I don't remember the growing-out process, but I remember wondering how my mother knew what I had done o.O

Dyed my blond hair black for a Halloween constume, dedication, I know. Then the next day went to the salon and had them bleach it out. I ended up having to cut my hair chin length it was so bad!

I relaxed, bleached and colored it for years! It was fun, but doing damage control now is so not.

While in Peace Corps in South Africa, got desperately bored and dyed my hair from a drugstore kit. It was a reputable drugstore brand (can't remember which), but it was also winter and there was a drought--so it was cold, extremely dry, and sunny. My hair turned a different color with split ends galore!

hmm...worst thing..oh, you mean other than bleaching it blonde for 15+ years? Then, it's probably all the daily flat-ironing..or...maybe that it's getting so long that my split-ends have split-ends but I refuse to take more than an inch off. Take your pick!

I let my brother crimp my hair. He held the crimper way too long and I ended up with a perma crimp in sections of my hair - so close to the root that I couldn't cut it off without looking (even more) awkward!

Oh man, I've colored it, flat ironed it, bleached it. You name it!

It wasn't bad enough that I bleached my Shirley temple perfect ringlets for years (going blonder with each visit to the salon), but then I started in on another addiction - the flat iron. As much as I coveted stick straight hair, pretty soon my hair wouldn't even hold the slightest wave! It was a dead dry mess. It took me years to get my healthy hair back and I love my curls!

I let my daughter use a straight iron on my very curly hair, never again!

Margaritas + slumber party + hair color = purple hair then off to the hairdresser to get it stripped and re colored! I have sworn off the 3 together now :)

Posted on 09.23.13 at 2:24 PM

Melted my hair with a hair dryer!

Posted on 09.23.13 at 2:26 PM

I stripped my DARK box dyed hair so I could turn it red.

A terrible home perm that made me look like Tiny Tim along with a horrible orange hair dye on my nearly black hair. can you say Bozo the Clown? The stuff nightmares are made of!

Posted on 09.23.13 at 5:10 PM

I had bleached blonde hair and then did a perm that made my hair look and feel like straw.

Posted on 09.23.13 at 5:29 PM

Bleached to platinum blonde - almost white - for at least 5 years. Luckily I also kept it short, so damage was minimal and chopped off monthly.

Posted on 09.23.13 at 6:02 PM

Going platinum blonde for a while!

Posted on 09.23.13 at 6:08 PM

I'm not brave enough to get near bleach, but I used to flat iron my hair when it was still wet. Not sure why the sizzling of my hair frying wasn't a sign to stop, but in retrospect - ack!

Posted on 09.23.13 at 6:20 PM

I used to perm my hair all the time and would have bald spots in some places. Luckily, I have lots of hair so no one noticed.

Posted on 09.23.13 at 7:18 PM

Dyed it...it felt like straw!

Posted on 09.24.13 at 3:04 AM

The worst single event was probably my college perm, which I thought would turn my natural curls into nice, Daryl Hannah mermaid curls...

Posted on 09.24.13 at 4:55 AM

Actually tried to have my naturally curly hair chemically straightened like 20 years ago... bad idea!!

Posted on 09.24.13 at 7:47 AM

I let an inexperienced salon tech give me a Japanese straight perm (didn't know how inexperienced she was until it was too late!). Not only did she drench my back with water while trying to shampoo me, but when she was done with my hair it was stretching like rubber when wet, brittle as straw when dry. Worst experience ever.

Posted on 09.24.13 at 10:23 AM

I ombred it (blonde at the bottom, looked really nice for a while) and then started taking prescribed medication that makes my hair really fragile. Those two combined make my brush look like a small dog when I'm done!

Posted on 09.24.13 at 10:36 AM

Bleached it!

Posted on 09.24.13 at 11:21 AM

Bleached it twice in a week!

Posted on 09.25.13 at 12:25 PM

The most damaging thing I've done to my hair is highlight and dye it within a short amount of time and then proceed to spend that entire summer in the pool and sun!

Posted on 09.26.13 at 6:04 AM

double processed it twice in a week!!

Posted on 09.26.13 at 11:47 AM

straightened it and dyed it.
