Thanks for your contest - my favorite travel tip that has saved me many times, is to leave a copy of your credit cards/license/and passport - front and back - with a family member while you travel. If someone steals your wallet - you can have all of the phone numbers and credit card numbers in one place to cancel them! (also tip #2 - always pack socks for the plane) :-)
Darcey
Holiday tip...shop early!
Torrey Creed
My favorite travel tip for foriegn travel is to consider buying a calling card when you arrive, rather than renting a global or buying a calling card at home. If you are going to a country where the dollar is relatively strong, you can call home for just pennies on the dollar!
Sarah
My best holiday travel trip is to take your GPS (preloaded with your destination country maps) with you when you travel! It comes in handy when you're wandering lost, you don't need to keep the expensive data plan on your phone for maps, and you'll be able to see which attractions are nearby that you would have missed otherwise!
Tarra
Best holiday travel tip...drink!! :)
Rachel
My best holiday travel tip - keep your most important items (cash, passport/ID, wallet) on your body, and keep everything else packed. Nothing worse than not being able to find your ID when you need it or having to dump all your pockets to get through gate check.
Shirly
I have only one holiday travel tip - get LOST !!
Helen
My holiday travel tip is to carry as little as possible. Traveling with a lot of luggage can be grueling especially during the holidays!
LF
My best tip is to carry as little as possible, and to enjoy the limited time you have visiting whatever special place and people you're visiting for the holidays!
Jaimee
The best travel trip is to just relax. People get stressed out and pissed during travel and if you can just relax you'll have a much better experience.
melanie
When traveling abroad make sure you know how to get from the airport to your hotel. My family and I learned that the hard way in Dublin.
Andrea
The best travel trip is to take in the entire experience. Sometimes the most fun things you remember is the journey to get to your destination. Plus if you see the trip as part of the fun, it gets rid of the stress!

Favorite holiday travel tip: Packing cubes and a Heys carry-on means no waiting for your luggage at the carousel. Did a 2-week stint in Europe this way with neutral basics and fun accessories and had a fashion-filled blast! So worth it to not have to lug a ton of bags around all the time.
Simone
Creating a space that feels like home always helps me to relax - I bring my favorite candle along with me!
Tracey
My tip is don't travel with anyone unless you know you'll have a good time with them. The worst thing is traveling with wet blankets, literally and figuratively. Lol.
Justine
email a copy of your travel itineraries to your phone so you have a paper copy and an electronic copy in case the paper goes missing. oh yeah, carry a little bag of almonds with you, very satisfying if you are stuck with long waits.
Laura
My favorite holiday travel tip is buy your tickets early. Confirm your days off of work really early and buy plane tickets. Around the holidays, the flight prices seem to rise every hour.

Favorite holiday travel tip?
Enjoy the journey! I'm driving over 1300 miles with a good friend to get home for Christmas. I've got Santa hats, Ghiradelli's peppermint bark, and enough holiday music to last the whole trip!
Sarah
My favoriate holiday travel tips (and general tips) are:
1) scan a copy of all travel documents (tickets, itineraries, etc) credit cards and photo idea to your email. this way you can access them when you need them if they get lost
2) ship all gifts, don't pack them in your luggage.
Emily
My favorite holiday travel tip?
Breathe.
Chelsey
My favorite travel tip is not to plan too many things during the trip that will cause you more stress.
Kait
I think I may be in love!
BethNicole
My favorite holiday travel tip...Pack a bikini or two and go somewhere warm!
Shannon
In your carry on bring: meds, a bikini, a pair of panties, and a few paperbacks!
melanie v.
the best holiday trip tip is to pack light and to have an idea of what sights to see/ or things to do (maybe theres a festival going on during you trip there) but also leave plenty of room to randomly walk into an interesting store, the local cafe, or talk to the locals.
lins
Always make sure to pack an extra outfit and enough toiletries for one day in your carry-on!
joshua Nagao
Best holiday travel tip is: check your tags on baggage in baggage claim. Many bags look very similar even the exact same. This can save you hours driving back to the airport to get the right bag.
NY
I always tape my initials with white masking tape on the front part of my black luggage. This way I can spot my luggage coming from across the room!
Erin
My favorite travel tip is to pack a small suitcase within a larger one, because I ALWAYS come back with more stuff than I left with, and a lot of airlines allow travelers up to two suitcases anyway.
Esther
always be nice to the airline people.
Acadia
When packing... making lists! So you don't forget your underwear!
NeCole Scott
My holiday travel tip is to give gift cards/cash; it makes packing so much easier and lighter.
daisy
My best holiday tip is to stay home and enjoy your extended family. What I WANT to do, however, is take a cruise with just my hubby and kids and run away from all the hubbub.
Bethany
My favorite holiday travel tip is to pack your patience in your carry on bag, so it's easy to get to. You'll need it!
Heather
These are gorgeous! My fiance and I are tying the knot in the spring and these would be the perfect honeymoon travel accessory.
My holiday travel tip is acceptance. Someone else's kids will always be screaming in the airport. The prices will always be outrageous. No one will be able to answer seemingly simple questions...
Just accept, move on, and think about the fun you'll have when you arrive at your destination!
Zora
I agree with poster Tarra, drinking always helps! :)
Actually I don't usually travel during the holidays, so that's my tip- stay at home!
amanda
Pack a few sundresses, a bikini and a few novels...We also buy toys and supplies for my tot when we get to our destination. Travel light!
Jessica
My favorite travel tip is one I use a lot while flying home to northern MN. There are inevitably weather delays or cancellations when flying around in cold climates. Instead of joining the mess of angry people waiting in the main customer service line, I try and find a gate attendant that doesn't look busy. If you're polite and patient, they're usually willing to look up alternative flights for you. I even convinced one to set me up for a real ticket instead of standby for the last flight out to my destination when my own flight was cancelled earlier that day. Everyone who spent hours in the customer service line was told to wait standby.
Emily
Never, never forget your lip balm.
Kristy
My tip is just to relax..and go with the flow, and enjoy the whole experience. From lost luggage to crowded flights, panicking doesn't make the situation better.
.. Though it does help to act assertive and maybe a leetle angry at the check-in counter to get what you want.
NailaJ
My favourite holiday travel tip? Don't forget to pack your landing clothes in your carry on! When you're going back to cool winter temperatures from hot steamy beaches, going outside in your flip flops is really not enjoyable.
Ashley E.
My travel tip? Carry a "mugger's" wallet -- one with $40 in it and a few business cards so it looks legit. If you're mugged, hand it over immediately, guilt free and with the knowledge they'll steal forty bucks and nothing else.
Julie
My tip: plan ahead and plan for delays!! Always pack a good lip balm and travel sized l'occitane hand creme!!
Melanie D
Carry essentials, including an ample supply of any medications you use, in your hand luggage.I also keep one change of clothes in my hand luggage as well. You never know when your luggage will be delayed or lost!
Amy Bhatia
favorite travel tip?
Always pack a comfy oversized sweatshirt, regardless of your destination - it'll keep you warm in transit and can double as a pillow or blanket :)
Sarah
Bring a shawl in a solid color -- can use it as a blanket on the plane, carry it in your purse while sightseeing if you get chilly or need to cover your head, and use it to dress up any outfit in the evening.
Beth
Two travel tips:
1. If you check your bags, pack a toothbrush and a change of underwear in your carryon.
2. Don't stress. Take it the whole experience; if it's good, it's good, and if it's bad, it will make a great story down the road.
Mel
Smile! Travelers tend to get a bit disgruntled from large crowds and long lines, but if you just relax and enjoy your trip the pleasantry will do wonders for you and those around you! (and pack extra Ziploc bags - those always come in handy!)
Jennchilla
Make room for gifts, pack light, have an extra bag with set of clothes/necessities (better chance of luggage being lost during holidays). Be prepared....and smile :)
carla
Pack light, stay hydrated and always keep essentials (change of underwear, tooth brush, medication, etc) with you in your carry-on luggage.
Carolyn
My best tip? Keep a change of undies, t-shirt and socks in your carry-on. You can go for days in jeans ... but hoo boy if you lose that luggage you might want something extra! That, and stay away from crying babies on transoceanic flights.
Jennifer
It's a good idea to scan an image of your passport and then email it to yourself...that way you have a copy that can be accessed anywhere with an internet connection (in case an emergency comes up...you never know!)...
