A Feel Good Giveaway from hiip: Win a Black Pearl Ikat Bag

It's a purse! It's a clutch! It's a surprisingly cute fanny pack! It's a bag from San Francisco-based company hiip, and it's your chance to win a hiip Bag in Black Pearl Ikat!

They've offered up one of their purses for a lucky Outblush reader, but even if you don't win, we think you have good reason to pick up one of these versatile bags. For every bag that's sold, the company gives a hiipKit filled with shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrush, socks, lip balm, and sunscreen to a homeless person. We think that's a pretty darn kind gesture, and a damn good excuse to add another purse to your collection.

In the spirit of Miss America and the season of giving, we ask that to enter you comment on this post with an answer to the following:

What is the best way to give back to your community?

One entry per person, please. Deadline to enter is Monday, November 18, 2013 at 12:00pm PST. Winners will be chosen at random and posted on Outblush the same day.

A winner has been chosen, and it's lucky number 13! Violeta, check your email to claim your prize!

Such a cute bag! I think the best way to give back is to volunteer your time to community projects. Everyone has different talents that can help!

The best way is to be a mentor for someone, young or old, based on your skills.

Going to nursing homes and spending time with the elderly is a great way to give back. They always appreciate visits from a friendly face.

Cute bag with even better cause!

Teach! Teach someone to read. Teach someone to interview for jobs. Teach people to take care of themselves or others. Then they can pay it forward and society continues to grow :)

Kindness. Anything from a friendly word to generous checkbook, but nothing is better than giving your time to a cause that genuinely means something to you.

The best way to give back, is to develop yourself first. Being an educated, balanced person as part of a community is key. Be active in the community around you as people participate in personal/professional ventures support it. May it be a festival, a small business, markets, or just events with your friends. Stay open and active.

I believe the best way to give back is simply to get involved in whatever way interests you. It could be volunteering at a homeless shelter, teaching a class at a retirement home, or helping in your child's school.

Volunteer your time and skills, donate money to a good cause...whatever you've got, put it to good use!

Start with your immediate surroundings. Be kind to your neighbors and to your neighborhood. Mow a neighbor's lawn, bring in their trash, say something nice, offer to walk their dog. Be kind to your environment, don't litter, recycle... those little things add up!

One way to give back to your community is to shop locally at small businesses. They are truly the heart of any community and without our support will disappear from Main Street.

Spend your dollars at locally owned businesses whenever possible. Eat locally produced foods.

Stop thinking about all the things you want, think about all that you DO have and then think about others that are not nearly as fortunate. Then you will find a way to help others.

If you have the time, join the Peace Corps. You'll learn and teach an astounding amount, and it will change your life (and maybe even the lives of others).

Support the local food bank.

Be kind.

Remember that what we do overall to the planet will matter to our descendants, and behave accordingly.

There are so many things that can be done but like so many others here, I agree that donating some of your time is the most precious of all.

The best way to give to your community is to show your love and respect for the people living within it: spend an afternoon at the local elder home visiting with seniors, or become part of a literacy program with kids!

A life well lived is a life that has touched others. Depending on what we do for a living makes us all a unique asset to our communities. If you are a Doctor, volunteer at a free clinic or offer your services for free. If you are a Lawyer, take some cases on pro bono. The moral of the story will always be CHARITY. The acts of kindness you can do for other people never expires.

The best way to give back to your community is through time. In giving money, you don't know exactly where it goes once it leaves your hands.

Find a cause that you are passionate about! If you like physical work, help build homes and shelters. If you love being around people, volunteer at a soup kitchen and enjoy the company of those you serve. If you're passionate, you're giving will be all the more meaningful.

The best way to give back is to get involved and get to know your community. If you don't know them, how can you love them? If you love them, giving back makes you just as happy as it does them.

The best way to give back to your community is your time. Think of others who are not as fortunate as yourself and find ways to either donate your time, money, assistance in enriching their lives and helping our community grow.

First, take time to assess and determine exactly what it is your community needs. Then, you work on defining an achievable goal. For example, let's say you've got an illiteracy problem in your community. Simply throwing money at a problem won't make it go away. In order to help your community thrive, you've got to reach out to it, and find like-minded individuals who will help to spearhead your efforts. Reach out to schools in the neighborhood (empower the youth!) to inspire passion and recruit volunteers. This way you've got the community working collectively to sustain itself. You'll also affect more people this way, because we work better and achieve more with people we're familiar and comfortable with.

You know - teach a man to fish and all that.

volunteer at a soup kitchen, participate in food drive, help pick up liter you see ( i like to do my areas local costal cleanup)

I believe the best way to give back to your community beings by being involved with your community. Your involvement with others will help direct you towards opportunities to give back and to reach out to others in need.
