Says Liz: "I am an Editor-in-Chief at a college newspaper and every year we have a holiday party. I like to thank my staff with personal gifts and as a woman I often have a trouble finding general gifts to give men. The options are endless for ladies; scarves, perfume, makeup, etc. But, for the men...Please help me Outblush! I am looking to spend $5-10 each."
Hi, Liz - Marian the Contrarian here! With luck, you'll find some good gifts below for the guys (and possibly the girls) from your puissant publication.
Since it sounds as though the ladies receive beauty products at least some of the time, I figured fair is fair: 1) the Mighty Minis Travel Pack from Jack Black ($10) includes half-ounce tubes of True Volume Thickening Shampoo, True Volume Revitalizing Conditioner, Body-Building Hair Gel, Pure Clean Daily Facial Cleanser, Beard Lube Conditioning Shave, Double-Duty Face Moisturizer SPF 20, and Industrial Strength Hand Healer, all in a logo pouch. If you're up for some one-stop shopping, 2) Oak Body Wash from Bath & Body Works ($11, but they always have deals) is part of B&BW's relatively new line for men. (And the best fragrance in it, according to the husband.)
On to less-sudsy things, we have the 3) Gerber Artifact multitool ($10), which combines a blade, two screwdrivers, a bottle opener, a wire stripper, and a pry bar into something that actually fits into a normal pocket or onto a normal keychain, the 4) Pocket Ref ($10), which is a miraculous little book that will tell you how to read a weather map, teach you the nation's airport codes, and
waste hours of your time increase your stock of general knowledge, and the 5) peel and stick white board ($10), which could be just the thing in an office with a constantly shifting body of staff.
This last one is totally silly, but in the 6) reporter costume kit ($9) you will find a disreputable hat and a plastic microphone. Do with that knowledge what you will.
Write back with your thoughts, won't you, o Editor-in-Chief? (Or maybe assign one of your staff to do it . . . )
