It's basically our job to shop online, which is both fan-freaking-tastic and terrible (for our wallets) at the same time. So, when we see a gorgeous, expensive piece we just HAVE TO HAVE but then remember that, hi, we have to pay rent this month as well, we actually cheer: "I can get PAID to do an Aspire/Aquire on this and find it for cheaper!"
This relaxed Rag and Bone Darlington Cardigan ($320, #1) prompted just such a search. A long boyfriend cardigan is a fall & winter layering staple, and the stripes & contrast trim give it more panache than a standard solid-color cardi. But $320 is a lot more than we have on hand for just one item.
Solutions: A Eryn Brinie Black White Striped Wool Blend V-Neck Cardigan ($80 on sale, #2) has the same long silhouette, v-neck, fun stripes, and lightweight wool blend as the Rag and Bone sweater, but saves us a whopping $240. Better still? This BDG University Stripe Cardigan ($44, #3), which has the stripes, v-neck, and length of the other two but the added bennies of extra red stripes (fun!) and a cheaper-still price tag. We'll still wear it all fall and winter long, but now we'll have money for other clothes - oh, right, and rent & food, too.
And, as always, if you've got something you love that's out of your reach, email us and we'll find you some more budget-friendly lookalikes for a future Aspire/Acquire feature!
