Aspire/Acquire: Technicolor Platform Pumps
Blindingly bright, almost cartoonish color stories were all over the runways for spring '10, but it can be a wee tad challenging to brave your 9-5 workday in a fuchsia dress. Easy solution? Pop a bit of color into an otherwise neutral outfit with vividly hued suede pumps, also seen all over the fashion pages.
These Elizabeth and James Mason Pumps ($350) were the inspiration for this column... You can see why! The platform almond-toe pump features a 1 inch island platform, making the actual heel height just 3 inches - ergo, easier to walk in. We're digging the contrast piping along the sole, too, but it's the $350 price tag that made us put these back on the shelf and back away, real slow like.
In tart raspberry suede, Steve Madden Tatumm Pumps ($100) are a little edgier, trimming the 1 inch platform with an exposed zipper and giving you a full five inches of height. Mrowwr!
At just $70 on sale, Jessica Simpson Debbie Pumps ($70) in Very Berry are the most affordable option. A 4 ¼ inch heel with ½ inch platform makes your legs look long n' lean, and the silver stud detailing along the edge of the vamp is a fun touch.
