When someone asks where you got these Vintage Emerald Isle Earrings ($12), you can blithely claim you found them in some dusty old antique shop. Then you can spin an outlandish tale about how the earrings were originally owned by a 1920s silent movie ingenue who was forced to sell all of her jewels to avoid becoming destitute when talkies became all the rage and her voice was deemed "not right for talking pictures." Then the person who asked you about the earrings will laugh and say you're lying, you just combined the plots of The Artist and Singin' in the Rain. Then you can mutter something about how no one has any imagination any more, and walk off sulkily. But at least your earrings will be really cute.
