The Mongolian Lamb Vest ($800) seems a bit extreme for even the most outlandish fashionistas. It may be the ultimate head-turning, statement-making, red carpet-worthy vest, but we think we would be haunted by the innocent faces of those adorable little lambs. We admit that it is indeed beautiful to look at, but we could find something very similar manufactured of faux lamb hair.

Um...it's lamb wool, not lamb skin right? So it was probably sheared from the lambs...I don't think lambs were killed to make these.

seems hypocritical if you're someone who buys calfskin or lambskin leather accessories. you're not haunted by the faces of those baby animals when you reach for your wallet or handbag or boots?

I have to agree with Vidya. I think this is just sheared from mongolian lambs - they are not skinned for it. Now, a lambskin bag, that is another story. Do you have a problem with those? BTW, this is down to a few in stock on jcrew.com, so somebody is buying it...

Not to belabor the point, but I just did a search on Outblush for "lambskin" and there were plenty of results. So in conclusion: 1) these are made from lamb wool and thus do not result in the deaths of lambs (of which I, as a lifelong vegetarian, heartily approve) and 2) even if they were made of lambskin, I'm not sure why this would strike such an uneasy chord when previous lambskin products on OB did not!
That said, my main problem with this vest is how it looks. I have no desire to look like a sheep dog.
