Here comes the bride/groom/life partner/spouse, all dressed in white/black/fuchsia/sustainably harvested bamboo silk... Weddings these days are anything but traditional, but as a guest, it's best to play it safe when you're getting dressed to head to the ceremony. Besides the unbreakable "Thou Shalt NOT Outshine the Bride," commandment, what are the rules of wedding dressing? We're here to help. Over the next several weeks, we'll be giving you guidelines of appropriate attire for different kinds of ceremonies & receptions, along with reasonably priced dresses, shoes, and accessory ideas. Please RSVP.... We'd love to have you!
A lot of these dresses carry with them an eau de resort - and with reason. Many destination weddings take place in warm and sunny locales where something airy, strapless, and ethereal is just the thing. You want to look dressed up for the big event, but you're not going to get decked out in silk shantung without sweating your lady balls off, and that is a well established wedding faux pas. We also kept the prices pretty low since you'll be shelling out for a hotel and airfare.
Bottom line: Something brightly colored in a breathable fabric that packs easily, like cotton or jersey.

P.S. This time of year, Personal Shopper requests for wedding wear rain down upon us in epic flood proportions. While we know each dilema has its own unique twist, we really can't get to all of them, much as we want to (we do have to sleep SOMEtime). So, hopefully, this series will help all you once and future wedding guests to look fabu, no matter what the occasion.
