Elle wrote: "Hey ladies! You helped me out with killer post-breakup haircut makeover that won me compliments from friends and strangers alike. So of course I'd turn to you with my next dilemma. I'm graduating in May (finally) in what I hope will be an outdoor, sunny ceremony. The problem? I go to school in the rural Midwest, and believe me, those prairie winds are STRONG and have caused several wardrobe malfunctions during my stay. I'm looking for a graduation appropriate dress that will not blow up and expose my bum on stage or be captured in the onslaught of post-ceremony photos.
I'm 5'7 and wear anything between a Size 0-4 depending on brand. The dress should be lightweight, and I adore feminine, vintage/retro pieces. Feel free to throw in shoes and accessories, but try to keep the budget under $200 -- haven't found that dream job quite yet!
By the way, are you hiring?!"
'Scuse me for a sec while I cue up "Pomp and Circumstance", Elle... Ah, there we go. Now I can write a graduation-themed Personal Shopper! I, too, went to college in the rural Midwest, and know full well the "Hello, have you met my butt?" potential of those winds. So, I picked dresses with straighter skirts that are less likely to get lifted by an errant breeze. I'd still recommend donning some nude boy short undies, like these $14 ones from Target, just in case, though. As for shoes, stick to low kitten heels or wedges, since you'll be on your feet allllllll day. Congrats on your graduation, and we hope you find that dream job ASAP!
