Fox fur stoles. Expensive, a bit creepy, and sure to put you on PETA's red alert. The Eugenia Kim Foxy Scarf ($232) however, is knit from a chunky alpaca-wool blend into a cruel-free, casual scarf. It certainly won't go with everything in our closets, but if we were so inclined, it would be a unique way for us to make a statement about our stance on animal rights!

Wool is not considered a cruelty free product.

Sarah, Alpaca wool can be cruelty-free, as long as the animal is not slaughtered for meat and the animal is raised properly. Alpaca also has a relatively low environmental impact.

Hi Sarah! Most wool today is cruelty-free, since small, independent sheep and alpaca farms adhere to strict policies on shearing. Mainly that it's done seasonally and humanly. Though it's always good practice to research the items you purchase, especially if they come from animals and claim to be organic. We're glad to know our Outblush readers are savvy critical shoppers!
