You may have noticed that we're hardly perpetual rays of sunshine around here, but even so, we seem to spend a lot of our time enthusing about one gewgaw or another. Doubtblush exists to make it clear that we do not, in fact, like everything.
Squint is a high end furniture line based in London and boasts both Heritage and Bespoke collections, upholstering chairs on commission with contemporary and vintage fabrics including English damasks, pearl detailing, and 18th century French trimmings woven with silver and gold thread. Sounds pretty, right? WRONG. We were shocked to discover that The Peebles Chair (starting at £4000) was the result of all these lovely fabrics. Bespoke it may be, but captivated we are not. It looks like it would be more at place in Alice and Wonderland or Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory than in any real life setting - and although we like a touch of whimsy in most things, this is less a touch and more a punch in the face.
