Doubtblush: Stella McCartney Cork Sandals
You may have noticed that we're hardly perpetual rays of sunshine around here, but even so, we seem to spend a lot of our time enthusing about one gewgaw or another. Doubtblush exists to make it clear that we do not, in fact, like everything.
Stella, we love you, really, but here's what it comes down to: the woman who wants Birkenstock style is not the same woman who wants 4 inch stilettos. These Three Strap Cork Sandals ($665) were made for someone who wants to wave her arms (possibly showing off unshaven pits) and twirl around to Peter, Paul and Mary in a flowy dress at a cocktail party full of wealthy people in a high rise Manhattan apartment, and we don't think she exists. Besides, we're doubting someone who leans towards the hippie-chic style isn't looking to spend nearly $700 on shoes!

This makes Birkenstocks look upcycled. Impressive, but something to definitely avoid. Even with a 40-foot pole.

I disagree completely... I have to wear either orthotics or birks, when I really want stilettos or platforms .. Finally something for me!
