Keeping track of our random brainstorms in the Limited Edition Frame Design Bloc Rhodia N° 16 ($8) feels ultra stylish because the custom sketches of Paul Smith are rubbing off on us. Rhodia's cult-classic grid notebooks have been redecorated with Smith's trademark fashion multi stripe, and his guiding elements give our crazy ideas instant structure. The scatter-brains of the world need a wee bit of help - what can we cay?
So who's Paul Smith anyway? This hip British artist and fashion designer puts our cool-o-meter to shame with his bitchin' collaborations and projects. Apparently he's the guy that first made pinstripes ironic, and he routinely twists our expectations of simple classic items into knots... Take his Sutton Seed packet-inspired shirt as just one example. His Design Museum Retrospective closed this October, but his "no-bullshit clothing" is timeless. Here's hoping our "visual diary" can be as compelling as Smith's.
