LACMA Lace Pattern Journal

We like to keep our dark little secrets in pretty packages, so the Lace Pattern Journal ($13) at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art online store feels like it's made especially for our personal confessions. Wrapped up in lace, wrongs seem a little more right (at least that's what we tell ourselves the morning after). Everything is softened in the feminine charm of sheer romantic glamor that's embodied by lace. Consider it a veil shrouding our hearts.

Check it out... LACMA's Costume & Textiles Collection is home to the specific shawl that this beautiful notebook is designed after. It follows in the style that originated in Chantilly, France, hence the name Chantilly lace. Known for its delicate solid background and fine outlined details, Chantilly lace is a type of bobbin lace made from silk, usually black. The shawl that inspired this piece was produced around 1870 in Grammont, Belgium (now called Geraardsbergen), another leading textile center of the 17th and 18th centuries.
