We don't need butter for this artichoke... Actually, it's the Zinnia Bud Wrist Purse ($800) by wearable artist, Kathleen Dustin. This exquisite lifelike piece is a masterpiece in itself (hence, the price tag), and we're being suffocated by floral themes this Spring, so this budding green number is just the ticket.
In case anyone's wondering, Dustin, the artist, has distinguished herself as one of the premier polymer clay artists in the world, and holds a juror's seat on the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen, the first professional craft organization in the country. When asked why she crafts organic purses and jewelry and not fine art sculpture, she stresses that beautiful things shouldn't be untouchable in our daily lives. Her functional fashion art is on display in the permanent collections of the Racine Art Museum in Racine, Wisconsin and the Wenham Museum in Wenham, Massachusetts.
