Culture Club: Surf Taco by Steven Speir
Hey, college kids, you think yer a real kick, huh? Well, if you wanna get goofy wall art and show off your funny bone, don't get a non sequitur without any artistic sensibility. The Surf Taco by Steven Speir ($15) is amusing and has nice composition. Be irreverent, but have some taste, weirdos.
Steven Speir takes playing with his food to a new level. We like the straightforwardness of his artist statement; his simple take the immediacy and childlike nature of street art feels a little better going down than some of the other conceptual nonsense out there. A bunch of delightful works are now on view in the Cafeteria Show at Masthead Print Studio in Philadelphia.
