We've seen people talking up jewelry by Lazerian, but we're really impressed by their Radiolarian Sofa ($Inquire), part of their Honeycomb furniture collection. Designer Liam Hopkins and artist Richard Sweeney found inspiration in the body structure of the microscopic sea creatures called Radiolaria. This sleek design is entirely made up of triangular columns of corrugated cardboard. Amazing.
About the creators:
Liam Hopkins is the founding furniture designer at Lazerian Studios. Structures in nature are prime inspiration for his designs. He explains how Lazerian integrates organic forms and cardboard constructions in his interview with Mocoloco.
Richard Sweeney started studying sculpture before moving on to Three Dimensional Design at Manchester Metropolitan University. His architectural multimedia projects combine hands-on techniques aided by computer imaging. The results (we like his modular forms in paper) are astonishing.
