Culture Club: Berny Cocktail Pitcher
Last month we showed you the Criss Cross Jewelry Collection from Crawford Contemporary, and couldn't help but stumble through the holloware collections at their mother company, Alistair Crawford. The exceptionally shiny silver Berny Cocktail Pitcher ($Inquire) has a classy incised geometric pattern and striped screw top seals. How to fashion a 1930s style bar around this piece is a question we'll pose you, dear readers.
We thought it was the chain that made this 1938 piece feel fit for a king, but it must be the hand of the designer, Sigvard Bernadotte, at work. During his lifetime, the Swedish industrial designer served as the Count of Wisborg as son of King Gustaf VI Adolf of Sweden and Princess Margaret of Connaught; it's no wonder he mastered flaunting the finer things in his silverware for Georg Jensen, now distributed by Alistair Crawford.
