The gold bullet-shaped case and black satin lined box of the limited edition Berlin Red Lipstick ($30) makes us ooze fierceness. This Neue Gallerie exclusive was created in collaboration with Estée Lauder, so you know it's legit. Daring and deep, this rouge transports us from our everyday to the cabaret.
This particular red is inspired by a lady friend of the German painter and printmaker, Otto Dix. Pictured in his Portrait of the Dancer Anita Berber c. 1925, she embodies the "unabashed hedonism" of 1920s Berlin. Mel Gordon calls the courtesan "Weimar Berlin's Preistess of Depravity" in his book Voluptuous Panic. We'll take her party girl makeup as evening inspiration without following in her footsteps, thanks.
