Culture Club: Barbara Nanning Glass Sculpture
Oooo festive! The ruby red Barbara Nanning Glass Sculpture ($Inquire) would look great rolling out of Santa's gift bag, but please be gentle. Our favorite part is the mean gold spike piercing out of the bottom of the bowl. What an artsy bad attitude.
Barbara Nanning blew the top off of the craft world with technical innovations in sculpture. She hand blows, cuts, and sandblasts her glass and ceramic pieces and even adds luxury metallic materials like gold to the mix. If you don't believe us, there's a whole article about it. In the Spring, her solo exhibition, Wunderkammer - Cabinet of curiosities opens at the Glass Museum Alter Hof Herding in Germany. She's been winning prizes since the 90s, and has been featured in the Australian magazine, Ceramics: Art and Perception.
