The Red Blues: Samples Galore

Listen, we've all been there: you find your own personal Holy Grail beauty product, be it mascara or hair gel, and you vow to never stray. But then one day, the unthinkable happens.... your beauty soul mate calls it quits! (cue threatening music) Rather than spend the rest of your days trolling eBay for half-used tubes of that perfect lip gloss, you decide to try and find a replacement. which, sadly, isn't as easy as it should be. Your simple search turns into An Epic Quest. This is the account of my Crimson Chase, my Rouge Odyssey, my Long Kiss Goodnight.

It's time to have a little fun! As I mentioned last week, I've gotten tons of response to my cry for help in choosing a new red lipstick. Awesome companies like Armani, D&G, Estee Lauder, Sephora, MAC, Smashbox, Besame, Arbonne, Tarte, and more have come to my aid by sending samples by the boatload. It's been an enlightening experience - all the different textures, the different finishes and applicators, and of course the different reds - even reds that should be the same look and feel totally different when I put them on!

And yes, I know this is the FOURTH (4!!) in this series, but what's a gal to do? I feel obligated to try on everything I'm sent - I DID ask for this, after all. The good news? We're almost done. I have one more set of swatches and then I'll give you all the good news (and reveal those mystery contenders from last week!) Just count your lucky stars that I'm too busy to make a trip to Sephora. Otherwise, this sh*t would go on for months. (Like my descriptions below. I got a phone call in the middle and had to wrap it up.)
