Listen, we've all been there: you find your own personal Holy Grail beauty product, be it mascara or hair gel, and you vow to never stray. But then one day, the unthinkable happens.... your beauty soul mate calls it quits! (cue threatening music) Rather than spend the rest of your days trolling eBay for half-used tubes of that perfect lip gloss, you decide to try and find a replacement. which, sadly, isn't as easy as it should be. Your simple search turns into An Epic Quest. This is the account of my Crimson Chase, my Rouge Odyssey, my Long Kiss Goodnight.
For those of you who remember way back to last week, I started with drugstore cheapies. Over the past week, I've done a LOT (back me up, Janetor) of research, testing, and begging for samples (cuz this ish ain't cheap, yo!) One of my all-time favorite reps, Tara from Estee Lauder, came through super fast and with some amazing options (see image). Since she sent such a bunch, I thought I'd just do them all in one round. I only tried 5, and surprisingly I liked them all, although I don't know that they're all contenders for the crown. I know it's kind of hard to tell the colors apart in the pictures, but they really were very similar - so just go with your gut when you're choosing your favorite.
P.S. Yes, they sent samples. Yes, I liked them for all of the 5 minutes I had each one on. No, they're not paying me to say this. But I am going to link to Estee Lauder's lipsticks, cuz I'm sweet like that.
P.P.S. Let's not get into how bad my skin looks. I can only focus on one thing at a time.

With the poor lighting all the lipsticks look the same.
Janetor
Well, sadly, that's more due to our not-so-great flourescent lighting in the office and my crappy camera. IMHO, the Signature Rich Red and Cherry Passion were the 2 best. We'll see if we can't get better lighting for our next round though!
One Ring to Rule Them All
Yeah, Ann, I know what you mean! They were all really pretty and feminine, and Janetor and I wondered also whether the similarities in tone might be a branding aesthetic. I voted for Cherry Passion and Stay Scarlet.
Blueflier
I voted for Rich Red and Stay Scarlet. All of them were nice, but Spanish Red reminded me of the orange-y red my kindergarten teacher wore, so to my perception filter, it looked a little, um...matronly. Probably not what you want a red lipstick to convey.

I have Spanish Red, and have found I look a lot better in it if I use a dark purply lip liner with it (Nars Damned, to be specific).
