I love your site and check it multiple times throughout the day - which should be taken as a compliment to the site and not as an indication of my level of boredom at work. :) My friend is throwing a first birthday party for her baby...in a week. I know it's short notice but I'm hoping you can help me out with some gift ideas! The baby is an absolutely ADORABLE1 year old boy. He seems to enjoy eating, laughing, sleeping, and has become a pro at rolling over. He has also recently discovered the location of his nose. :) Seriously though, they are fun parents and dad is really into basketball. I would love to get something fun for the little guy and something for my friend (mom) as well. I was thinking about something like a spa day (to help her keep being such a great mom!) Thanks so much! -Liz"
Hey Liz, I'm Found of You, and I am Mama to little guy who is a year and a half old! I picked out some items that he and his friends really love. For your friend, just get her a gift card to a restaurant or for a mani-pedi. It's a simple, easy gift that she will definitely appreciate. It would also be a nice gesture to offer to babysit so she can go and enjoy the gift.
1,2,3 - My mini-man is really into books! Right now he is absolutely obsessed with Sam and the Firefly ($9) by P.D. Eastman. The pictures are beautiful, and story is an excellent tale about using your power for good instead of evil. He loves the cute animals in Bear in Underwear ($9) by Todd H. Doodler, which has an accompanying plush toy. All of the Skippyjon Jones books by Judy Schachner are adorable, but he's partial to the original ($10) Since you only have a week, these are a good option because they're all pretty popular and you'll be able to find them at your local bookstore.
4 - My boy loves his bean bag chair. Here is a basketball shaped one ($31) that the dad can enjoy too!
5 - My son's buddies all love this K's Kids Colorful Bowling Friends Toy Bowling Set ($34). They don't actually bowl with it, but they love playing with the colorful animals.
6 - This KidKraft Push-Along Play Cart ($46) is great-looking, and push carts like these are great for babies who are learning to walk.
