Our fearless leader, EB, shared she was making the delightful Aperol Spritz for an upcoming desert camping trip. So, a. we need to find out which desert and meet her there, and b. you need to make these delicious cocktails at home, asap.
Aperol is a brilliant Italian aperitif that includes bitter orange, gentian, rhubarb, cinchona and other spices. It's similar to Campari, but is much sweeter. Aperol is typically used in a Sprtiz - a wine-based cocktail commonly served as an aperitif in northern Italy.
The addition of an olive and lemon peel is also known as a Venetian Spritz.
Ingredients:
1.5 oz Aperol
3 oz Prosecco
Club Soda
Orange Slice for garnish
Directions:
Place ice cubes in a low ball glass. Add Aperol, then Prosecco, and top with soda. Garnish with orange slice. Enjoy!

Hi there. I'm form Treviso ( Venice area ), tipical land of spritz and prosecco.
I would like to add some suggestions about preparation of spritz:
- Serve with a green olive, the combination of taste is really great
- don't exagerate with ice
- i suggest a prosecco extra dry, not riserva or millesimato, for example this http://www.bortolomiol.com/en-UK/prosecco-della-marca-trevigiana.php. Good compromise betweek pricing and quality
- instead of club soda you can use even mineral water
