2017 is not for the fashionably faint of heart. Check out five bold new trends that will have you turning heads

Unusual necklines: Already the red carpet has been filled with asymmetrical necklines, from single sleeve gowns to differently sized straps. Look for it in your favorite stores with spring tanks or glam looks for special occasions.

Go big: Bell sleeves are back in a big way and thanks to modern inspiration, you won’t be mistaken for a puffy-sleeved pirate. Try going off the shoulder with a button-downed ruffle sleeve or wide bell-sleeve. The button-down look is also part of the more tailored, classic trend that is also seeing a revival.

Skip the skinnies: Skinny jeans are still hanging around, for better or worse, but this year flared bell-bottoms are heading back to the streets. Pair them with a block heel for a modern take on a flattering favorite. Flares tend to take up a lot of attention, so try pairing them with a more figure-conscious look on top, like a tailored blouse or close-fitting, but not tight, t-shirt.

Pops of color: From patchwork jeans to polka dots on handbags, each season has new takes on how to wear big, bright colors. Try brightening up a dreary winter day with a bright floral print against a dark background. Winter florals are still unexpected and a great way to ease your way into color.

Bra tops: The Material Girl continues to be a fashion influencer and her 80s era bra tops are back. Last year’s crop tops were closer to the waistline, but this year is all about showing off your hard work at the gym. Stick with high waisted pants that cover your belly button to avoid going too retro and if you’re the chilly type, wear an oversized sweater or blazer over the bra for a bit more coverage.
